Application Development

The Engineering Systems (ES) team is highly resourceful at building mashups which leverages backend OGC compatibilities of ArcGIS Server with feeds such as Map Services, WMS, WFS, WCS, etc.. For further speed performance and optimization of applications, the ES team has the expertise to reach directly into Oracle, MS Sequel and Informix database backends, behind ESRI SDE middleware to read, analyze and update geospatial information maintained by ESRI software. The design, development and deployment of GeoSpatial applications will be completed in the following steps: Strategic Planning and Design; Prototype Development, Project Specification, Application Development, Deployment, Training, and Maintenance.
ES has seasoned professionals that specialize in the following:
ArcGIS, ArcInfo, Microstation, ArcObjects, ArcView, Google Gadgets, Google Map API, Google Earth Enterprise (Google Earth Server and Google Earth Fusion), Google App Engine, Crystal Reports, Python, ArcCadd, ArcIMS, ArcSDE, Microsoft Virtual Earth, Oracle, SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Spatial, MySQL, SAS Product Suite, Adobe Photoshop, AutoCAD, MapGuide, MapPoint, Oracle Spatial, ASP, PHP, java, Skyline products, Visual Basic, .NET Technologies, C++, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, AJAX, JSON, XML, CSS, HTML, Fortran, Pascal, Perl, etc.

Team ES has over 20 years of development experience in the creation and generation of Databases for clients throughout the nation. Database layers identified for integration into the target system are secured through a variety of access modes deemed appropriate to the needs of the proposed application. For example, data is migrated and maintained within the target platform, the related dataset are obtained from authorized providers both within the agency and from external resources identified as appropriate for the purpose intended. If data is maintained outside of the target platform, the ES Team designs and creates code to access those resources real-time through RSS, URL, and other data feed methodology at the defined update cycles appropriate to the resource maintenance schedules. Overlay accuracy is optimized between different resource layers, and spatial rectification implemented where appropriate. Each contributing layer is thoroughly tested through a battery of proprietary software and visual inspection cycles to ensure conformance to specification. Irreconcilable, but acceptable inconsistencies, are thoroughly documented in the Metadata before approved layers are added to the system. Team ES utilizes middleware to access multiple data formats (ESRI, KML, AutoDesk, Intergraph, Bentley, Oracle, SAS, SAP, MS SQL, etc.) utilized by the different resources being integrated into the target platform. Reference documents will be ‘hot linked’ to related graphic features as required. |

Engineering Systems' on-site consultants prepare comprehensive system level documentation to facilitate future maintenance and update of the GIS and its applications. Easy to refer to user level documentation is also prepared to provide a step-by-step instruction on execution of each GIS application. Three levels of on-site training are provided: beginner, intermediate and advanced. ES employs practical integration with publically available social networking resources to encourage and facilitate user adoption. The relative familiarity of users with the Google, Twitter, Wikipedia, YouTube, and similar resources are a great help in increasing user participation and communication to promote system evolution.

Engineering Systems is a leader in the field of application design and software development for Federal, State, Regional and Municipal Government. Our experienced professionals study user needs, analyze application requirements, propose software options, and develop application designs in close collaboration with our clients. Our software development staff then develop complete, easy to use and maintain applications on the client's AM/FM/GIS platform for an optimized solution to client needs.
The end visualization output is typically a juxtaposition of multiple open source and proprietary technologies such as Google Maps, ArcGIS Online, Google Earth Plugin, Street View, Panaramio, Twitter, Facebook, Silverlight, Flex, ESRI Javascript API and several other visualization technologies.
For public applications, we are experienced in developing a citizen-centric approach utilizing feedback options through the use of tools such as Google Analytics, feedback and questionnaire forms, user forums and moderated groups, Twitter updates, etc.
